this friday in san francisco my homeboy justin aka jmontag is bringing it back with "i can't feel my face." peep the catchdubs designedness. also...my dude Juan who works with me is part of a dj crew here in miami called the second string stunnas. one of his crew members, dj contra of MIA fame, is spinning records with oliver mak up in boston tomorrow night.
finally...an inspiring something from espo.
john mayer is a hump in my opinion but this video features nyc crown wearers futura, daze-who you can see somewhere on my blog back in march hanging with caleb, and tats cru.

btw-i like tats cru. lots of people hate on them because they make paper but i'm all about corporate thuggery. plus they are OGs. you can never take that away from them. if you have paid your dues on the streets the way BIO,NICER and BG183 have, then you are allowed to get money. that's my opinion.

BNE from SFC in NYC and making lots of noise in the Times. Saw some stuff from him in Amsterdam when I was there in high school and more in San Fran when I was in college. Any chance him and MQ are responsible for the TIE outlines on stickers that started popping up all over NYC last year? Check up on it

And also check out ABC News on BNE.

Also, a big thanks Wendy Dembo from Coolhunting for this link. Brad Pitt, Perry Farrell, Shepard Fairey and Banksy in one room. What is this world coming to?

If you don't know about TIE...read up

The Show opened last night. Sounds like it was pretty fresh. Signed prints for $500 a pop and only one per person. Also...I heard from a little birdy at my window that if you're a banksy fan you need to check for the new issue of swindle. say word.

NPR on Banksy Thank Tink for the link!

Not sure what to think of the new Diddy album. I guess it's a hybrid of hip-hop and house music. Sounds kind of interesting but I for sure won't be buying it. PD is in a weird place right now. For the past few years dood has been prancing around making house music with Felix Da Housecat and now he has beef with 50 cent over not releasing Mase from Bad Boy. Intriguing. Let me say this in his defense: PD is kind of an OG. People can talk all the shit they want about him, but the fact remains that he produced much of Ready to Die and had a lot to do with creating what we now commonly refer to as "the remix". He's done tracks with Nas and he still throws white parties in the Hamptons. All this from a guy who dropped out of Howard. I heard he used to throw some mean parties in DC too. At least he's trying something new.
Not as cool as a trip to the supermarket in Harlem with Jim Jones, but whatevs. Here is a video from the program called "12" at Weiden+Kennedy in Portland that I didn't get in to last January. Pretty strange if you ask me. What do you think?

New Banksy

Tuesday, September 05, 2006

Glad I can't take the China Town Bus anymore since I'm down in Miami. I must have spent over 5 days of my life on those buses. Sometimes I miss those days. Right now I don't.

RIP Steve*

Banksy vs. Paris Hilton

and check out this article with one of my favorite contemporary hip-hop personalities: DJ-Drama.

*stolen from the Space 1026 blog
Baaaaaalllin! Jim Jones is one of the corniest dudes in rap but i'm consistently fascinated by him and his crazy antics. This track is actually kind of fresh so I decided to put it on here. But what's up with the Dips always using that same girl's voice in all their tracks? Anyway...check this out. The video is pretty dumb, but that's what we've come to expect from Jones and company and usually the dumbness is outweighed by the humor.
If you didn't think that video was indicative of how competely insane homboy is, check out his inline skating team. That's correct, Jim Jones sponsors a dipset rollerblading team. This makes me want to throw up. Urban culture raping itself. So sad.

sorry for not posting for a little while. it's crazy here in miami with faux hurricanes and lots of work. fyi: a treo is like a double edged sword. it's super cool to have emails at your fingertips all the time, but it's not cool when you get emails from your art director at 3 in the morning cause she lives in boulder.

anyway. some more things. the spothunters book has dropped and it's hot like sauce. i have recieved a copy and it's beautiful. produced by the good people at Cantab, you should buy a copy. super cheap and super fresh. stuff like this will be worth alot soon so cop em' while you can:

oh...and caleb neelon has a show in vancouver that opens tomorrow. looks very cool.

finally, a shameless plug for Swindle magazine. yo. this magazine is so fresh. that is all. finally a pop culture magazine with real content to digest. suckas.
Bushwick watch out.

and Alex Lukas does his art thing with Matt Leines and Rotgut tonight in Stockholm. Check on it. www.galleriloyal.com for more info.
