Soulclap - The Giraffe

Eli, Jessy and I checked out the Minimoo party on Saturday night for WMC. Despite my lack of sleep, I had a really good time- the music was really deep and dope. I forgot to post Eli's first vinyl-pressed track, which is really dope. I'm not up on techno music, but I like this track a lot and so does everyone else I've played it for. Check it!

Architecture in MPLS

Another reason Minneapolis is so dope. Nice to read about Jean Nouvel's process and the research that goes into his projects.

Cool Disco Dan

When I went to college in Washington DC, I worked at While You Were Sleeping Magazine. Cool Disco Dan, one of the most important graffiti artists in the history of DC and probably the whole US, used to drop by the office sometimes. I was like a pig in shit back then, having the opportunity to be around legends like Dan. So my buddy Roger is working on a project with Dan, and just went live with a website dedicated to the man, myth and legend. Definitely check out the site and wikipedia him. Some real authentic American culture for your ass.

No More Wireless Cities?

A few years ago, Austin, Philly and a few others were trying to provide free wireless internet to the whole city. I was siked about the idea, which makes a lot of sense. Apparently we may never see wireless cities after all, which is not surprising but definitely disappointing. Shout out to the Fort Lauderdale airport, for keeping it real with free wireless internet, all the time.

I'm in Boulder today and the weather is surprisingly not shitty. Anyway...The Times' Travel section keeps doing it with another nice article, this time about "Poorism" - The idea of traveling to slums over beaches and more typical travel destinations.

In honor of it being Friday, here's some craze from Abby. Happy weekend everyone.

The NYTimes provides some information on street art for the masses. This article bothers me a little, along with Wooster Collective and "street art" in general. I'll try and write a proper post about this stuff when I have a second. Shout out to real graffiti.

Jake Jefferson

Jake Jefferson is the most well branded musician/promoter/hustler in Miami. Dude has his own logo and deserves a shout out for that alone.

Don't mean to be sweating the NYTimes too much, but they've been killing it with the travel section stuff recently. Yesterday they featured this article on Berlin and all the graffiti that's going on out there. After hearing how much fun Beba and Alex had on their Berlin trip, and looking at all this cool stuff from artists like Blu, I'm thinking Berlin might be a nice destination for my upcoming European vacation with Daver. I stole this flick from Beba's Flickr, and check out this post on Blu I wrote in June.
Cool NYTimes article on the upgraded 2008 Boston Celtics. It's amazing how talented Kevin Garnett is.
