Cuuuuurtis!

Jen Stark and Freegums just dropped this dope book Mural Madness Extravaganza. If you've ever driven around Miami, and I'm not talking about South Beach, then you've probably noticed the crazy amount of murals that adorn many of the buildings in the neighborhoods that make up the city. They usually feature cartoonish imagery and the typography is really on point-everything from bubble letters to script and so on. The stuff isn't done with spray paint, and it's been going on here for years. One dood in particular signs all his stuff "$erge" and I've been checking for him since I first started noticing his work. Freegums and Jen Stark interview $erge and take lots of pictures in this book. You should buy it.

5o incredible rap songs you need to hear right now brought to us by the doods at CocaineBlunts who think about and analyze hip hop way too much. Enjoy.
A New York Times article on the unfolding situation with DJ Drama. It's funny because I was just talking about this with Matt Foley last night. DJ Drama is perhaps the most influential DJ in the country. He makes artists hot with his mixtapes. Once an artist gets on a Drama mixtape, people hear it and are then far more likely to go out and buy the artist's records. Why then, is he the target of the record industry? They think he's profiting off of their property illegaly. But it's his work that ultimately translates into sales for record companies. It cuts right into the dilemmas facing the muisc industy and illustrates the difficult situation that record labels find themselves in now that media and technology have completely restructured the game.
Here is something very special for your Sunday morning. Alife brought together John Mayer and super producer Just Blaze to do an improvosational collaboration at the Alife store in Lower Eastside Manhattan about a month ago. Not much to say here...just watch the clips. The highlight for me is how Mayer plays guitar over Souls of Mischief's "93 to Infinity." The concept is fresh and I'm looking forward to more dopeness from Rob and company at Alife. Respect as usual for pushing the limit again and again.

There will be girls wearing stilletos and tight jeans there for sure, so no excuses fellas.

Caleb's got a show coming up at White Walls in SF and another one in Denver. I'll have more about those shows on here soon along with more info on the artists he's collaborating with and all the cool stuff that Caleb does in his new house.
